I set up a test run of my bb. you can check it out at test.straighthealth.com/mybb (copy + paste). I like the feel of it. It has a lot of features and I've considered moving to it from phpbb3 but I just couldn't find a good theme. :(

MyBB is pretty good. There are a few theme sites out there for it as well.

Some of them can be found here on the MyBB software list.

I liked it. It is amazing, but it was a nice little script. I ran it for 5 months on http://www.computalk.net before I changed to vB, vB is much more substantial though.

I always use MyBB for my smaller forum projects due to its completely free compared to vB for instance and it is very simple to use and design compared to lets say phpBB as everyone loves mainly because it is in Fantastico.

I use Mkportal for the frontend/portal software and Mybb for my forum:

http://www.xtemu.com

We don't have a whole lot going on, new registrations are always welcome. I just updated to Mybb 1.4 which is more faster than the 1.2.x versions, resource usage is quite low as well.

I prefer Mybb over other free forum software due to the amount of out of the box features it contains and the modifications available. I also prefer Mybb because of it's simplicity to use and administrate. Plugins add a lot of new features to an already great package and are extremely easy to activate, just upload the files and activate them in the ACP. Very few modifications require core file changes.

Mybb is quite a bit less resource hungry compaired to commercial boards like Vbulletin and IPB, although I was considering purchasing an IPB license a while ago.

Mybb 1.4 is the closest you can get to Vbulletin or IPB for free/cheap.

I use MyBB on almost everyone of my forums. I have one that uses the new vBulletin but I hate vbulletin to be honest...
