So far, I am very pleased with the online account I have at GoDaddy. It seems to be a very good value for the money.
Are they basically number one in service and value?

I have never called anyone regarding internet stuff. Its the internet, we use emails and forums and stuff like that :P Anyways, I have GoDaddy for all my domains now.
I like privacy protection so most of my domains are with Namecheap.com as they provide free privacy protection and with a coupon they are pretty well priced.
I've also started to give name.com a try too. Seem pretty good but not as slick as Namecheap and GoDaddy.
Never really needed service from a domain registrar. Once it's registered it should just run smoothly.
As a side note, in Australia where I live we have a a major registrar (MelbourneIT) charging $140/2 years for a .com.au compared to others charging less than $40/2 years. They even charge $75/yr for a .com! These guys a pretty big (claim to manage 4.5 million domain names) and they are still is business with these prices! They claim the extra charge is for superior service but I really don't see the value - I'm stunned people will pay that much over the industry standard.
Yea that seems a little bit nuts. Does that come with hosting also? If not then uninformed people are really getting taken to the cleaners with those prices.

Nope, that's just a domain! I honestly don't know how they get away with it - it's robbery.
In the beginning I think they were the sole .AU registrar so they had a monopoly. I guess people don't know to transfer?

Don't get me wrong, I don't have an issue with GoDaddy's domain services or their support, I just find the whole constant e-mails (from IndyCar drivers?!?!) and the whole upsell during checkout over the top.
The main thing I prefer other registrars for is that GoDaddy charge extra for privacy protection, places like Namecheap and Name include it.

Hi jono, I didn't realize that. Thanks for the heads up!
