Anyone else use google as a spell checker? Whenever I'm unsure of a word, I always open google and search for it. It's easier than opening word just to check one word. plus its more convinient (oops, google tells me it's spelt convenient) if I'm  making a post in a forum. I guess I could just firefox which has automatic spellchecker but I like my IE.

I do use google if I am unsure of a word. I use it for spell checking as well as definition. When I don't understand what a word means, I google it and find it in a dictionary and usually get a range of synonyms and this helps me, as it brings clarity to the words context. I find Google the most straight forward instead of using Word, as usually Office doesn't register some words and their meaning. I use more of google to find the definition of the word, rather than the spelling. If there is a word I am unsure of, which also happens sometimes, I put it in and it automatically finds the word spelt correctly. That is very handy, from that point.

You can also search "define: (insert word here)" which will automatically pull up a definition without you having to click on an extra site.

I've used Google for spelling and definitions also, and (point of interest) even gotten traffic from definitions. I have a page on one of my sites devoted to a glossary of medical terms, which I used the proper HTML definition list markup for, so my referrer logs show some traffic for "define xxx term" :)

I didn't know you could even have definition markup. I'll have to look into that because I have a common terminology section on my site.

Here's a short explanation of definition lists:
http://www.w3schools.com/HTML/html_lists.asp
You can use CSS to style them.

I do this too. If I don't know how to spell a word. I do a search and Google comes up with suggestions with the correct spelling of the word.

Oh man. I'm glad I'm not the only one who does this. I roleplay a lot and I'm not afraid to say my grammar is atrocious. Whenever spell checker acts stupid, it's always google to the rescue.
