I have a friend who advised me to try this out. And so far it's been working, and I am amazed at what it has done. I have been able to move a website with zero links and just few days old to over 1,800 daily uniques!
I have found that this method works. Here is what I did.
I went to Domain Auction Deals and bought an expiring domain, (http://www.dopedomains.com is a domain auction site) I then loaded a webpage with similar content but with links point to my new domain.
The rest was unbelievable! I got 700 new uniques! So, I decided to visit dopedomains.com again, and this time bought three new domains. I did the same with them. My traffic shot up to 1,800.
So now I have 4 pr2 websites and 1,800 uniques for a mere $58! Which i have sold already.
I made one sale last week of $50 from an affiliate banner. I am almost making my investment back, and in less than two weeks.
Do you think I have found something that will work? What are the negatives that you can see coming from this? I would like to try this again but i'm afraid it was just luck.

I think this is hit or miss. You might have gotten lucky but the reason why people let their domains expire is probably because they aren't very successful. Buying a domian that isn't successful and trying to mine it for back links or organic traffic probably won't work the majority of the time. But glad you got in a good name.
Did you do any research on the name before you bought it? If so what kind?
Not bad really - but you could run your site through a proggie like IBP and have similar results with links to your site in 100s of directories and such. Tis good for Google PR when you have lots of links on other sites = SEO-Fabulous LOL
