Trivia contests offering up a prize gets people to start posting.
We used to have monthly trivia contests at TCDI. Whoever won the contest of the month got a $25 gift certificate from Amazon.com
I started a trivia contest one time about the members TCDI. I started a thread asking the members to tell us a little about themselves. Then I hid that thread and started a contest about the members. For example: "who was born in the Philippines?".
They didnt have the original thread to fall back on for answers, plus it got a lot of them to post, trying to guess. Who ever had the most points at the end of the month won the prize. I think that contest thread turned out to be well over 7 pages long
